Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs) have recently taken centre stage as targeted studies by key institutions such as UNESCO have revealed their economic, social and cultural reverence. The sector has in recent times proved to be economically relevant by contributing significantly to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) more than some traditional economic sectors. In most Southern African countries, the CCIs are seen as the new path to wealth creation; employment creation and uniting the region favouring the young generation. In recent times, the CCIs have adapted to the technological advancement especially digitalisation. Innovation, powered by digital technologies and existing opportunities in the CCIs ecosystem has led to new business models. This course will provide an in-depth overview of the Cultural and Creative Industries in Digital Economy and how the former has leveraged on the latter to create social and economic opportunities for countries in Southern Africa.
